About Daniel Sheflin
Daniel Sheflin serves as Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Honeywell Automation Control Solutions in Golden Valley, Minnesota. He directs the R&D activities of a $16 billion Honeywell division that encompasses more than 5,000 engineers and scientists. Daniel Sheflin has spearheaded product development efficiencies that have improved development cycles and product innovation capacities.
An emphasis of Mr. Sheflin’s work involves creating wireless communications and security solutions for industrial plant and factory settings. Integrated proprietary systems drive optimization of plant operations and enable secure, encrypted communications throughout operational levels. Daniel Sheflin defines security as being his division’s top priority in implementing wireless systems, followed closely by data reliability.
Daniel Sheflin completed undergraduate studies at the University at Buffalo, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy. Earning his Master’s degree in Engineering at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Mr. Sheflin accepted responsibilities as General Manager of Engineering with General Electric Company in the mid 1990s. He guided the 500-engineer strong Erie, Pennsylvania, locomotive division in its efforts to design and deliver next generation locomotives that met new federal fuel efficiency and emissions regulations.
Mr. Sheflin’s achievements in the IT and energy efficiency spheres have earned him Chairmanship of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Federal Advisory Committee on the Smart Grid. In this capacity, he leads a committee of professionals from trade, industry, academic, and professional institutions in developing strategies for accelerating America’s transition to a smart grid network. A member of the First United Methodist Church, Daniel Sheflin contributes to nonprofit organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
